“First-Generation Students Unite,” a thoughtful piece on the challenges first-generation students experience at college from the NYT. U Mich has a thriving first-gen organization that is starting to get more support from the university.
Jess Enoch and I are planning an edited collection, tentatively titled Women at Work: Rhetorics of Gender and Labor in the US, and we invite scholars to submit proposals for essays that examine both historical and contemporary discourses surrounding women, gender, and labor, broadly defined. The full call can be found on the RSA website.
I recently had the opportunity to review the collection Women and Rhetoric between the Wars (edited by Ann George, M. Elizabeth Weiser, and Janet Zepernick) for Peitho 16.2. It’s a fine volume, treating an important yet understudied period in women’s rhetorical history, and I’ve found it to be quite accessible for graduate and advanced undergraduate students.
